RCABC is committed to encouraging safe work practices for our members and the roofing industry. In addition to offering safety training courses and requiring the Certificate of Recognition (CORTM ) for all active members this section provides information on changes to WorkSafeBC OH&S and safety initiatives that are either upcoming or implemented.

As of July 1, 2011 RCABC requires all Active Contractor Members to have and maintain CORTM certification. Risk management is a core value shared by our members. Mandating CORTM certification as a condition of membership is a natural extension – a way of completing the risk management circle and ensuring that both property and workers are protected.

RCABC is proud to have signed onto the Builders Code.  The Builders Code sets a standard code of conduct for workers on construction sites in BC. It defines an “Acceptable Worksite” as the starting point for reducing risk and ensuring a safe and productive environment for all workers. The Builders Code is intended to help construction employers communicate a reasonable, consistent behavior expectation to improve the safety, productivity and retention of skilled tradespeople, and reduce project risk.

The Roofing Industry Safety Council (RISC) is made up of RCABC Members, safety professionals and industry experts.  The purpose of the council is to provide information and recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding occupational safety and health issues that affect members of the roofing and related industries.  Additionally the engages engages and cooperates with organizations having regulatory or oversight responsibilities in Occupational Health and Safety, including WorkSafe BC, BCCSA, COCA, CSSE, and others as required.
