Dear Members and Stakeholders;

Given today’s announcements by Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry and Prime Minister Trudeau’s press conference this morning, RCABC, will be making some immediate revisions to our service delivery.

RCABC Office

All RCABC departments are open for business, however, staff have been given the flexibility to work from home as needed on a scheduled basis. In the event someone does work from home, phone calls to the office will be redirected to their personal cell phones during business hours.

REF Apprenticeship Classes

In response to clear advice from federal and provincial health authorities to reduce the spread of COVID- 19, we will be cancelling existing RDW Level 1 and Level 2  classes effective Tuesday March 17th. At that time apprentices will have completed 25% of the course, as well as Fall Protection, Torch Safety and First Aide.  The final two classes of the season for RDW and ASM beginning in March and April are also cancelled.

The ASM Level 3 class, currently underway, will continue in an on-line format, as the practical component has been largely completed and ITA has confirmed they will recognize a blended on-line delivery format towards completion of their provincial designation.

For more information on rescheduling RDW and ASM training, as well as details regarding refunds, please contact RCABC directly.

Meetings and networking events

Lunch & Learn’s for the remainder of March have been cancelled. This has been largely due to company policies about group meetings and outside visitors. We are working to reschedule our visits in the future. We also know that work continues on important and timely projects. The RCABC  technical team remains available for consultation via the telephone and email to provide advice on all projects and will continue to support our members and the design community at large.

Committee and Ad-Hoc meetings will be converted to conference calls or rescheduled as required.

As always, we will continue to keep you informed and support RCABC members in whatever way we can. If you have any concerns, or find it difficult to reach someone here in the office, please contact me directly. While we fully realize this decision is not ideal, current health conditions are unprecedented in BC and we need to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in every possible way.
